VIDEO ADVENTURES...

Part 1
Inside the World's largest Record Store
My Uncle Val is a true gem of Philadelphia.
He is lively (rhymes with his last name Shively)
and that’s an understatement!
Val uses curse words like water, goes to church every Sunday, and he owns and runs what is
considered the world’s biggest record store.
Literally millions of records stuffed into a cramped
four floor warehouse. And Uncle Val will even sell to customers. Sometimes. If he feels like it.
1st of 3 videos when I visited his store in Upper Darby with my mom and bff Chris.

Part 2
Inside the World's largest Record Store
Who I called “Uncle Wow” when I was
little and couldn’t pronounce the “V,”
awwweee…
Millions of records, mostly R&B 45’s,
crammed into a small four floor
warehouse.

Part 3
Inside the World's largest Record Store
Val and his coworker Chuck know where
each freakin record is and every detail about it.
A true treasure
— and a treasure hunt.

Here are outtakes, aka Part 4 finale, visiting my
Uncle “Wow” Val in The World’s Biggest
Record Store.
Bonus: I wax philosophic about my silver hair.

I had sooooo much fun at
Val’s lair The World’s Biggest
Record Store that while having brunch
last week, we decided to capture his
stories, one by one, about records from the past.
Stay tuned for a super interesting one this week!
First of Chats & Chews with my Uncle Val,
aka Uncle Wow,
aka our living catalog for oldie 45 records

This 1958 doo-wop 45 RPM record by The Students, and its B-Side “I’m So Young,”
has a fascinating history — which winds through Pennsylvania initially. Hearing Uncle Val tell
the story makes it infinitely more fascinating!
Also it’s the first record he ever bought so awwwe,
super special to hear.

We talked in Part 1 about “Every Day of the
Week,” a 1958 doo-wop 45 RPM record by The
Students. This time, it’s a big mic-drop plot twist
about its B-Side “I’m So Young,” also a 1958 doo-wop 45 RPM record.

Super fun outtakes reel with my Uncle “Wow” Val.
He owns (possibly) the World’s Biggest Record Store, located in Philadelphia.
It’s our chat & chew in an ol’ skool Philly diner.

Spent a storytelling day with Uncle “Wow” Val
Shively. Chantilly Lace was our final minutes
together when I was already punchy from a
wonderful story & vinyl overload.

A quick story with my Uncle “Wow” Val.
Only one minute talking about the 1962 song
“Loco-Motion” by Little Eva — it’s a record
and a record!

A great piece of Philadelphia music history!
Join Silver Pixie and her Uncle Val Shively
as we dive deep into a rare R&B 45 vinyl record:
"Can't Help Loving That Girl of Mine" by
The Hideaways, produced here in Philly in 1956.

Outtakes with Uncle Val at (perhaps) the World’s Biggest Record Store. My fave thing to post!
I crawl through the vinyl stacks, we discuss
my fashion mismatching, and we sing poorly as always.

My Uncle Val can tell a run-on that somehow magically ties itself together.
Starts with Heartbreak Hotel, Elvis Presley, 1956,
Then to Gee Wiz, Clara Thomas, 1961,
Into our surprise reveal record, 1962.
Val’s vinyl story is the early 1960s in Memphis Tennessee.
So there’s a racial undercurrent that fuels
the story and,in a way, produces our hero.

Did you like our Otis Redding record story? Here
are super fun outtakes, bloopers & behind the scenes in The World’s Biggest Record Store with
my Uncle Val Shively. Wander the vinyl 45 record stacks as Uncle Val decides what story he will tell,
I get flustered about having to do a retake,
and Val proclaims he won’t curse again.

You never know what to expect in
The World’s Biggest Record Store.
Today my Uncle Val tells all about an old friend when he played her long-lost favorite 45 record!
Goldie Zolkowitz aka Genya Raven — you can guess that she is lively! (rhymes with Shively).
Val Shively has spent decades in these stacks,
and his memory is as deep as his collection.

“You great big lump of sugar.”
My Uncle Val Shively has seen (and done) it all
in many decades of the World’s Biggest Record Store.
Today’s story: Girl power! Val introduces his
friend Genya Ravan aka Goldie Zolkowitz,
a muse for rock stars,to the singer who sang a favorite childhood record,“Lonely Nights”
by The Hearts (1962).
And “yo Philly!” We shout out to a fave Philadelphia music venue.

Chaos in the Stacks! Behind the scenes bloopers
when you film in the world’s biggest record store.
It’s 90% music and 10% chaos. Today we’re sharing silly stuff from our Genya Raven stories:
Getting lost in the Great Record Maze, a Wawa Hoagie Cameo (we’re in Philly), the “Muse” debate,
and singing yet another song incorrectly. Uncle Val’s memory is deep, but even the best legends need a “Take 2!”

Who’s the star of our fun videos about the World’s
Biggest Record Store? Is it Uncle Val Shively?
The cute silver chick?
Clearly it’s the vinyl 45 record stacks!
(this video shows alotta them) Ahhh…
and a surprise star at the end.
Also this video shows Val and Chuck in action — they really do sell records!
